Jaguar-Land Rover, the makers of Range Rover have been promising a new cross over SUV and have delivered the Range Rover Sport Coupe, which combines luxury and great off-road driving experience. The original Range Rover Sport was a hunk of metal, heavy on fuel and not as refined as the SUV’s of its generation. The new Range Rover Sport Coupe is another beast all together. It combines the luxury and sleekness of the Evoque and the powerful performance of a full-blown Range Rover.
Range Rover Sport Coupe – Exterior and Interior Design
The Range Rover Sport Coupe measure 470 cm, which is 30 cm longer than the Evoque. It is small in comparison to other SUV models in its class. The new Range Rover Sport Coupe is built on an aluminum platform. There aren’t many changes made to the exterior, except the new design of the intakes in the front grille suggesting a bigger engine with a bigger rating.
Many of the interior features are wrapped in high quality leather. It has ample space for five with an optional panoramic roof. The door bins are generously sized as is the cubbyhole and glove box. The Range Rover Sport Coupe is fitted with comfortable seats that have massage function. Everything about the interiors suggests comfort and luxury. The like electrically adjustable leather seats are exceptionally comfortable. The dashboard has a TFT dial display, which might look a little, dated. There is a touchscreen infotainment system with a television tuner, rear seat seats, a 19-inch speaker sound and a satnav system. The dash is attractive and is fitted with controls that are well matched to the interior of the car. There is a series of controls next to the gear selector for changing the suspension and off-road modes. The Range Rover Sport Cope also comes standard with air suspension.
Safety features include Blind Spot Monitoring with Closing Vehicle Sensing and Reverse Traffic Detection. It does lack some of the safety features that gave been fond in many SUVs like speed limit alerts, self parking or lane departure warning.
Range Rover Sport Coupe – Engine and Performance
The Range Rover Coupe will be offered with a 3.0-liter V6 engine with 254 hp. It will also be offered with a 5.0 liter V8 supercharged engine supplying 550 horsepower. The car can accelerate fro 0 to 62 mph in 4.7 seconds, which means it can outrun the Porsche Cayman. This SUV has excellent handling and grip and is equipped with Land Rover’s Terrain Response System for off-road driving. SUV’s aren’t generally economical when it comes to fuel consumption but the Range Rover Sport with its diesel-electric HEV engine has a fuel efficiency of 45.6mpg. The draw back is that it has high CO2 emissions because it does not offer plug-in capability.
Range Rover Sport Coupe – Release Date and Price
Luxury and, comfort and superior performance do not come cheap. The list price is set at $66,000 but Range Rovers have always held on well to their value, so buying one is money well spent. Some people look at them as more than just cars that move people from one place to another but actual investment car. The latest Range Over Sport Coupe is expected to be released in the middle if 2017.
