2018 Jeep Wrangler Review

There has been some talk about the 2018 Jeep Wrangler set to make its debut sometime in 2017. The details of what the new Jeep wrangler will look like are still being speculated. Chrysler regards the Wrangler as the ring that controls all other Jeeps. This means that the changes that will be made will influence all the other Jeep models. For a while there were rumors of an aluminum frame but it looks like the Wrangler will be made of a steel frame that’s been hydroformed to increase rigidity and to save weight. The key feature for a wrangler is its off-road capability. Chrysler can only improve this capability.

As more Jeep Wranglers are bought for city and off-road conditions, mileage has become more of an issue. Weight is a serious factor when it comes to mileage and to keep the car as rigid as it needs to be some concessions have to be made to save more weight. Wight can be affected by the removal of the safety bar, also commonly referred to as the roll bar being replaced by an integrated substructure with stressed mounting points. From an engineering standpoint the weight can be removed from the top assembly and reduce the need for lower body reinforcement which will in turn help give the car a lower center of gravity and improve fuel economy.

2018 Jeep Wrangler – Design Improvements

The new look Jeep Wrangler will not have the soft-top but it will most likely have removable soft panels set over the substructure. The taillight design is set to change. The tailgate, bumpers and 5×5 wheel bolt patter will remain the same as those that are on the latest Jeep Wrangler model. Other changes include windshield angles, mirrors and turn signals. The taillights will change to the ones found on the Renegade and the headlights will either be LED or HID.

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler will have a windshield tilted by 10-150 and the grille bends slightly near the top. It will also have a full folding back glass. The new Jeep Wrangler will have a backglass that holds all the way up with built-in clips that enable the backglass to be pinned to the roof and left open all the way. This is different to the current version of the Wrangler, which requires the tailgate to swing sideways for the backglass to open upwards. Driving with the backglass open can cause exhaust fumes to come into the car which can be dangerous but some people like it which is which is why the fold up might be offered as an optional extra.
